15 Brown’s Hill otherwise known as Slippery Causeway, Dartmouth

 

1887, Indenture dated 19th March, 1880 between Hugh Mair and Langmead Casey Pillar the younger of Dartmouth, Builder.  For the sum of £200 a dwelling House & Garden on the South side of the street called Slippery Cause otherwise known as Brown’s Hill, adjoining Summerland Villa and garden in the parish of Townstal.  Formerly in the occupation of the Richard Fox but now occupied By George Burman.

 

1900   dated 5th April from The Laura Pillar, Richard Pillar and George Burman to Emily Alice Palmer

 

1928 Conveyance dated18th December between Emily Alice Palmer of Tordean Dartmouth Road Paignton and Ernest Poole of Laura Cottage Crowthers Hill for the sum of £400.  Situate as in 1887 with of rights to pass along the passageway or steps on the south side to Newport Street.

 

1942 Ernest Poole died 18th September at Noss Works Kingswear Intestate. Admin granted to Edith Susan Farrier

          Poole widow of 15 Browns Hill & Ivan Farrier Burman of Crosby Cottage North Ford Rd

 

1943 conveyance dated 20th January from Edith Susan Farrier Poole & Ivan Farrier Burman to Ralph Scoble Fore

         St Kingswear, Butcher. For the sum of £715.

 

1943 By Legal charge dated 21st January Ralph Scoble (the borrower) & Edith Susan Farrier Poole & Ivan Farrier

          Burman (the Mortgage’s) the sum of £575.

 

1944 11th January Edith Susan Farrier Poole & Ivan Farrier Burman to Thomas Gladstone New (Solicitor) the sum

         of £200 Sub-mortgage payment.

 

1944 By Deed of Exchange dated 7th December between Ralph Scoble & Edith Susan Farrier Poole of 177 Victoria

         Rd who agreed to exchange properties subject to a payment of £140 from E Poole for equality of exchange .

1953 5th September Ivan Farrier Burman died on this date.

 

1954 conveyance dated 7th September from Edith Susan Farrier Poole to Alfred George Gunnell The Bell Inn Newport St Licensed Victualler for the sum of £575.
