Dear Mr. Bell,

You did not ask in your last letter to Dartmouth Museum for the parish in which Week Cottage lies, but to which school children from that cottage would have gone in 1901-12.

The cottage lies in a part of Townstal parish which is cut off from the main part of the parish,  and it is much nearer to Stoke Fleming village where there is and was then a primary school.    The Dartmouth school which is in the centre of the town would have involved a much longer walk at a time when school buses did not exist.  The likely assumption is therefore that the children would have walked to Stoke Fleming.

The school leaving age in 1913 was 12.

Yours sincerely
