HAWDEEDS
SUMMARY
OF DEEDS RELATING TO HAWARDEN WHEN OWNED BY THOMAS WILTON.
[In 1883
James Voisey, builder, had borrowed money on the security of the land in
Southtown to build a house. In 1884 the
house was described as "in the course of erection" by J. Voisey. The
mortgages were for £400 to Dr. F.A.Dawson, £200 to R.W.Prideaux, solicitor, and
£200 to E.H. Prideaux.]
29/9/1892
- Conveyance by J. Voisey of
"Hawarden Villa" to Thomas Wilton, coal merchant, of Dartmouth, for £800. Mortages were repaid to Dawson, £400, Prideaux £200, and E.H.Prideaux,
£200. The house is described as
"lately built by
James Voisey." (A piece of land to
the south, known as Lucerne, had previously been sold by Voysey. This was later bought by
Wilton.)
30/9/1892
- Mortgage: Thomas Wilton borrowed £600 from H. G.
Bartlett @ 5½% on the security
of Hawarden.
(In 1905 this mortgage
was paid off.)
5/10/1915 - A
piece of land adjoining to the south, known as Lucerne, was conveyed by John Stephens to Thomas Wilton
for £620. (This appears to have been the
site on which a
billiard room was built, and is now converted into a separate dwelling.)
20/6/1921

Hawarden to Dr. Horatio Sparrow for £2,000.
